Ethne had finally managed to track down the raptors that had been plaguing The Crossroads for several months. She had been prepared to close in on them when Orin began to make small groans of distress and hang back. Knowing better than to ignore the cat's signals, she followed him back to Ratchet. Sure enough, a band of humans and elves were mounting up to ride for The Crossroads. Ethne knew she was outnumbered and outgunned, and she receded quickly into the wilderness. Perhaps they had mounts, but Ethne had knowledge. She would get to the horde's outpost well before the Alliance did, and the ramparts would be bristling with weapons to welcome them.
As it says, Ethne and Orin. Ethne's my tauren hunter in WoW. She rocks. For those that care, "Ethne" is Celtic for "fire", and "Orin" is Celtic for "white". Simple, eh?
Felt like playing around artistically, btw. I wasn't going for a lot of depth or detail. I wanted something loose and grungy and not likely to be entirely technically correct. Maybe it was the Matisse book I looked through earlier...
Painter 8, four or five hours I think.
Note: This is actually the second one I've submitted of this, since DA seems to have EATEN the other one or its in limbo or something... :\
I like the new style; very fun. I'd be curious to see you try it more digitally and maybe some in traditional media... like watercolor or pencil base with ink. Could be quite kewl.

Watercolor + ink would probably work best. I might try it if I ever feel like digging up some decent ink pens. And getting out all the watercolor shiat.

Eh, you can do it with pretty cheap pens and still be good. I've used regular ball points for inking things, and, while I prefer the microns, they work fine. If you get the basic colors for watercolor, you can mix anything else ya need, and with the limited palette of that pic, you'd be good.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
